COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho/Tampa, FL. (June 23, 2023) /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The IRONMAN Group announced today that stunning Coeur d’Alene, Idaho will once again host the full distance IRONMAN® Triathlon on Sunday, June 26, 2023, as part of a unanimous vote at Tuesday’s Coeur d’Alene City Council meeting.

“We are delighted to see such a great interest in the full distance triathlon at Coeur d’Alene,” said Tim Brosious, Northwest Regional Director of IRONMAN Group. “With the long history Coeur d’Alene has built in the triathlon community over the years, we know our athletes will be thrilled to once again compete 140.6 miles on some of the best terrain in northern Idaho.”

The 2023 IRONMAN Coeur d’Alene triathlon will reflect the characteristics of the half-course IRONMAN® 70.3® Triathlon. Athletes will perform a 2.4-mile double-loop swim in breathtaking Lake Coeur d’Alene. This 112-mile double-loop bike trail will take athletes through beautiful northern Idaho along Lake Coeur d’Alene with sweeping mountain views before transitioning in a city park. Athletes will close out the race day via McEuen Park’s multi-loop track to the vibrant finish line in downtown Sherman Ave.

“We are very excited to host the full distance IRONMAN® Going to the Coeur d’Alene again next year! After talking to our IRONMAN team and athletes over the past year, it’s clear that there is a strong desire to have another all-distance race here,” said Northern Idaho Athletic Commission Vice President Britt Bachtel-Browning. The pandemic has created huge pent-up demand for games, and Coeur d’Alene just hits it out of the park in terms of places people want to play games and take their families to visit. This event really brings out the best in people. From volunteers who wholeheartedly support and encourage athletes, to city staff and IRONMAN staff dedicated to keeping everyone safe, to the joy of IRONKIDS® Compete with hundreds of little guys who exude pride after their medals and pay tribute to athletes of all shapes, sizes, ages and backgrounds who push themselves to greatness. As an IRONMAN finisher, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve faced a challenge and reminded myself ‘You’ve completed an Ironman triathlon! You can do anything! Needless to say, I’m excited! I cherish our relationship with IRONMAN so much and I’m honored to have another year of IRONMAN and all it brings! “

CThe oeur d’Alene and its neighbours are surrounded by dozens of lakes left by Ice Age glaciers. There are more than 55 lakes within an easy drive of Coeur d’Alene, but none are more scenic and action-packed than Lake Coeur d’Alene itself. An ideal place to vacation and experience a multitude of outdoor activities, the area will continue to provide contestants and their families with a scenic competition destination. With spectacular Northern Idaho sunsets and moonrises, ospreys diving behind fish, and the glowing lights of downtown Coeur d’Alene reflecting in the waters of Lake Coeur d’Alene at night, this is a magical place sure to please.
