Paramount Plus is finally available in the UK! The new streaming service is said to feature more than 8,000 hours of content that includes the latest movies and TV shows.
Set to challenge the likes of Netflix, Disney Plus, Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV and what feels like an endless stream of streaming platforms, Paramount Plus first launched in the US just over a year ago – meaning there’s already plenty of top content ready. for your viewing pleasure.
Paramount Plus costs $9.99 / £6.99 per month or $99.99 / £69.90 per year with a free seven day trial available. Sky Cinema subscribers will also get access to Paramount Plus at no extra cost, so it’s a win-win if you already have a subscription. Of course, the big decision is what to watch first and whether the top content is worth the money. So, here are some of the top picks for where to start first.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2
The video game movie is over right? Say no. Okay. Both 2020 Sonic the Hedgehog and the 2022 direct sequel Sonic the Hedgehog 2 are relatively good. They’re not like the good Shawshank Redemption but for a video game movie, they’re a lot of fun picking up source material and doing a decent job of delivering interesting twists while delivering colorful visuals. This sequel mainly builds on everything the original did very well, aside from introducing Sonic’s friends Tails and Knuckles. Fun for all the family.
Blockbuster comedies are not as common as they once were; luckily, Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum are here to change that with The Lost City. Kidnapped by a deranged billionaire (Daniel Radcliffe), a romance novelist and his cover model must uncover an ancient city…something neither of them prepared for. Directed by the Nee brothers, this unexpectedly big box office hit is now one of the biggest films on Paramount Plus. A large part of that is undoubtedly due to Brad Pitt’s beautiful long-haired cameo.
I’m tempted to suggest the Halo TV series as one of Paramount Plus’ biggest shows, however, I’d rather recommend the neo-Western drama, Yellowstone. Starring Kevin Costner as John Dutton, whose family owns the largest contiguous ranch in the US, the series follows the trials and tribulations bordering national parks, the Indian Reservation, and developers. Netflix has Stranger ThingsAmazon has BoyDisney Plus has Obi-Wan KenobiApple TV has Severance and Paramount has Yellowstone.
Paramount Plus is available for $9.99 / £6.99 per month or $99.99 / £69.90 per year. Will you take out the subscription?
Meanwhile, on Netflix, Adam Sandler’s new movie Hustle tearing up streaming graphics – and it’s actually pretty good.
