Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Cast Ranked By Speed

The Super Nintendo Entertainment System has survived decades of dust and competition thanks to original games that captivated generations of players. Many new systems have been launched since the days of the cartridge game, but the console wars began before Microsoft and Sony fought for world domination. Some people are owners of Atari, Nintendo owns the whole environment, but true sophistication plays Sega. Like the SNES, Sega has its mascot – only the Sega mascot isn’t a plumber with a mustache in overalls. No, the Japanese developer and publisher became synonymous with the blue hedgehog in the killer red shoe called Sonic. Sonic wasn’t swinging a fireball or growing tall as he swallowed a seemingly alive mushroom, he was running fast. He runs fast, collects rings, chaos emeralds, and saves animals from the slavery of Dr. Annoying robotnik. The little blue ball turns 30 this year, and he’s celebrating with his second major film in two years.

Sonic The Hedgehog–the first live-action Sonic image produced by Paramount–was released in early 2020 before the coronavirus swept across the globe and shut down theaters everywhere. It grossed over $350 million at the box office and earned the green light for a sequel from the studio. The film’s success was due in part to IP’s cross-generational appeal as well as the studio’s willingness to listen as the internet screamed against the film’s titular blue hedgehog character design. Further, Ben Schwartz‘s (Parks and Recreation) voice over work coupled with Sonic’s adorable redesign make it a captivating on-screen hero that has been cherished for decades. Jim CarreyDr. The exaggerated Robotnik is almost as animated as a CGI hedgehog, and a shining star in this children’s film. But Sonic the Hedgehog 2 added old favorite Knuckles (Idris ElbaColleen OShaughnessey) into the mixture. With the sequel now in theaters, here’s a look at all the returning and new heroes and villains and how they rank in terms of speed and ability. Small spoiler for Sonic the Hedgehog (2020) forward.

5. Tom Wachowski aka Donut Lord (James Marsden)

In the last place, not surprisingly, Mr. Donut. James MarsdenThe fun little town sheriff wouldn’t have left quickly without Sonic’s help. He’s an ordinary human, maybe above average, but he’s limited by our weak human abilities. He’s a strong driver, but unless he gets behind the wheel of a vehicle, he has little hope of competing with his CGI competitors.

4. Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey)

Dr Robotnik found himself in fourth place thanks to his intrigue mobility. Its speed is limited by the amount of technology, but even Sonic talks about how fast Eggman’s machine can fly – especially when enriched by whatever power flows through Sonic’s spines. Dr Robotnik’s portrayal of Jim Carrey’s killer will live on in disrepute, despite the actor’s recent comments about considering retiring from acting.

3. Knuckles (Idris Elba)

Knuckles the Echidna holds the third fastest position among the main cast Sonic the Hedgehog 2. Knuckles is the strongest character – CGI or not – neither, but his strength and weight slow him down compared to his peers. Don’t underestimate him; He is an efficient climber and digger capable of gliding despite extreme density. Idris Elba takes on the battle of echidna reshaping the character into a stoic warrior that enhances the game’s persona. In the game, Sonic and Knuckles are enemies bound through battle against their arch-nemesis, Dr. Robotics. The trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 seems to follow that relationship despite changing certain characters and world elements,

1. Sonic (Ben Schwartz)

Of course, the first place belongs to blue blur himself, Sonic the Hedgehog. He has thrived for 30 years in video games, television, and now movies too. He doesn’t need the power of flight, but fans of sonic adventures know he’s capable of it when powered by chaos emeralds. Whether bipedal or clenched, the speedster is capable of fantastic acceleration and top speed. His portrayal of a superhero in the movies shows him gazing at DC’s The Flash, and that’s fitting given his lightning-fast abilities. Ben Schwartz brings the energy the characters need while making them captivating as well as fun.

In short, Tom Wachowski? Too human. Dr Eggman? Too dependent on technology. Knuckles? Fast, strong, heavy. tail? A fast pilot but not as fast as Sonic himself. It’s a whole Sonic gimmick. He didn’t get a game with a water gun, or a game with a magic hat, he ran–and he ran fast. Like all consumer mascots, he has been commercialized. He has his own racing games, sports games, etc, but Sonic is always about speed whether it’s air, land or sea.
