Fans will be able to watch soon Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness at the cinema and get all the answers to the questions that have been bothering them ever since WandaVision premieres in March 2021. For example, we still don’t know who the villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe are. And while the possibilities are endless, thanks to the multiverse, we believe that the Scarlet Witch variant is the Big Bad of Doctor Strange 2.
Many Fans Believe Scarlet Witch Will Be the Villain in ‘Doctor Strange 2’
Since WandaVision aired, fans theorized that Wanda Maximoff would turn out to be a villain.
Elizabeth Olsen first debuted as a role in Avengers: Age of Ultron, where he started out as a perverted criminal. But once Wanda and her brother Pietro realized the truth of the matter, they helped the Avengers stop Ultron. Now fans believe he’s going to be evil once again after he was seen reading Darkhold during the post-credits scene in WandaVision.
Wanda has lost her parents, brother and significant other. And the grief of losing Vision was enough to unleash his power as the Red Witch, creating Westview. He is one of the strongest beings in the universe, and that power can turn anyone to the dark side. And it doesn’t help that he has a history of treading the line between good and evil in comics.
Plus, in Doctor Strange 2 trailer, Scarlet Witch tells Doctor Strange, “You break the rules and become a hero. I did, and I became the enemy. That doesn’t seem fair.”
After everything she’s been through, can Wanda really turn bad in Doctor Strange sequel?
Why the Scarlet Witch variant could be the true villain of ‘Doctor Strange 2’
MCU Wanda Maximoff is, at its core, good. Even though she navigates new powers, Wanda never has any malicious intent. So we find it hard to believe that he will turn evil in the future Doctor Strange film. The more reasonable choice, for us at least, is that the Scarlet Witch variant is the villain Doctor Strange 2.
Scarlet Witch is more powerful than we can understand, and there may be a Wanda out there who is even stronger than the MCU Wanda. And that variant will be quite suitable for Stephen and Wanda. Who doesn’t want to see Elizabeth Olsen fight alone in a Marvel movie?
There is also a scene in Doctor Strange 2 trailer of someone attacking Kamar-Taj. And by piecing together different footage from the teaser, some fans believe it was Wanda who carried out the terror at the training ground. However, it is possible that it is not our Wanda but a variant of the Red Witch. Nothing is forbidden in this film.
A lot of people expect Scarlet Witch from the MCU to be the villain Doctor Strange 2. So it would be even more unexpected and surprising if the film’s Big Bad was actually a variant of Wanda. Unfortunately, we won’t know the truth until the film premieres in theaters.
Sam Raimi teases who the bad guys are in the MCU movies
While talking to Fandango, Doctor Strange 2 director Sam Raimi discussed who could be the villain in the film, and he mentioned Scarlet Witch.
“Well, there are iterations of our characters across the multiverse,” explains Raimi. “So if I have to say Weird [is the villain] … I’m not supposed to answer this question, but I might say that Strange was changed. Same with Wanda and Mordo. But I would say, at different times, all of the above.”
It’s hard to believe anything someone from Marvel says these days. But it looks like we will meet at least one Scarlet Witch variant in Doctor Strange 2 who is bad. And maybe he will be the main villain of the film because Raimi revealed that there will be a lot of bad people.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness premieres exclusively in theaters on May 6.
